Right-click your cell with the current date and select Format Cells. Choose the date format you wish to use for the date. Each time you open the spreadsheet, this cell automatically updates to the current date, in the format of your choosing.
In Excel, dates are stored as real numbers so that they can be used in calculations. By default, January 1, 1900 (called as epoch) is treated 1, and hence January 28, 2022 corresponds to 44589. Similarly, the time is represented as the fractional part of the number, as the percentage of day.
42005 is 1-Jan-2015 (because it is 42,005 days after January 1, 1900)
Add or subtract dates Enter your due dates in column A. Enter the number of days to add or subtract in column B. You can enter a negative number to subtract days from your start date, and a positive number to add to your date. In cell C2, enter =A2+B2, and copy down as needed.
Your value of 44560 is the number of days since 1/1/1900* (Excels time start epoch).
Excel stores dates behind the scenes as the number of days since 1 Jan 1900. For example, 31 Dec 2020 is 44196.
The dates in Excel are actually numbers with the starting date being 01-Jan-1900 which is 1.. So 365 is 30-Dec-1900. If you add a 0 via a formula to a text like say 30/6 , excel will convert to a date serial number (44742) assuming the year to be the current year (which is 2022).
Use the Fill Handle Select the cell that contains the first date. Drag the fill handle across the adjacent cells that you want to fill with sequential dates. at the lower-right corner of the cell, hold down, and drag to fill the rest of the series. Fill handles can be dragged up, down, or across a spreadsheet.
