Good evening everyone and welcome to what we hope will be the first of many conversations about regionalism at the school cities working in close collaboration with Dr Enid Slack of IMFG so Im Karen Chapple Im the director of the school cities and Professor of geography and planning at University of Toronto. Before we begin, Id like to acknowledge first that for thousands of years this land upon which we convene tonight, has been the traditional land of the Huron-Wendet the Seneca and the Mississaugas of the Credit. Today this meeting place is still the home for many indigenous people from across Turtle Island or what we settlers call North America, and we are grateful to have the opportunity to live and work here. I hope that our conversation tonight generates insights and thoughtful reflection on how we can be better stewards of this land in the spirit of the Dish With One Spoon wampum belt agreement, an agreement on how the land can be shared to the m
