Q: Where can I find the Credential Identification Number (CIN) on my TWIC? A: The CIN is printed on the back lower left-hand corner of the TWIC card. (See image below with CIN location circled.) Also, the CIN is also printed on the lower left- hand corner of the card mailing that you received with your TWIC card.
The Redress Control Number (redress number) is a unique seven-digit identifier issued by the Department of Homeland Security Traveler Redress Inquiry Program (DHS TRIP) and is used by the Transportation Security Administrations (TSA) Secure Flight program to match travelers with the results of their redress case.
In order to participate TWIC cardholders should take the CIN on the back of their TWIC card and enter it in the known traveler number field of airline reservations made with a participating airline or in airline profiles.
The TWICs with missing fingerprint information can be identified by the 8-digit Credential Identification Number (CIN) that is printed on the back of the TWIC.
TWIC cardholders must use an active TWIC Credential Identification Number (CIN) that has not been canceled. The CIN is printed on the back of each TWIC card on the left side under the 1D barcode.
Once you receive your card, it will be activated and ready to use. You will also receive a separate mailer with your cards pre-assigned Personal Identification Number (PIN). You can still choose to pick your card up at an enrollment center, and if you do so, you will be able to select your own PIN.
The main difference between a TSA certification and a TWIC card is that they apply to different parts of the transportation industry. Put generally, a TWIC card grants drivers access to secure areas of maritime ports, while a TSA certification grants access to secure areas of airports.
