Every Audit log event includes two main parts: Envelopes that act as a container for all event messages. Payloads that contain data from the resource emitting the event message.
In the navigation pane, go to Computer Configuration ➔ Policies ➔ Windows Settings ➔ Security Settings ➔ Local Policies ➔ Audit Policy. In the right pane, double-click the Audit logon events policy to open its properties window. Select the Success and Failure checkboxes, and click OK.
Please follow below steps: Enable Audit Policy. Select Server Manager on Windows server. Under the Manage tab, open the Group Policy Management console. Enable logon-logoff. Go back to Computer Configuration. Use Active Directory Event Viewer to check the logs. Open Event Viewer and navigate to Windows logs, Security.
The main types of activity that an audit log can track include: User activity. This includes logins, logouts, and any actions a user performs while using the system. Access control. System events. Data access. Configuration changes. Security events.
Audit Log examples The maxResults parameter returns the specified number of audit log entries in the response. By setting maxResults to 50, we retrieve only the latest 50 entries. Use the filter[date][since] and filter[date][until] parameters to limit the response to a specific date range.
Logs record every action as it happens: [timestamp] User A did action Y [timestamp] User B did action Z [timestamp] User C did action Y Audit trails go much further into the connections between the actions and what other things happened as a result.
