When you click inside the table, two new Table tools tabs appear on the ribbon: DESIGN and LAYOUT. These tools are visible only when you are in the table, for example, when you add content to the cells. On the LAYOUT tab, in the Merge group, click Split Table. The table splits into two tables.
2. How to split a table vertically Place your cursor below the table you want to split. Press the Enter button on your keyboard twice. Select the columns you want to split into a new table. Drag these to the second blank space under the original table.
Try it! In the row that you want to be first in the new table, select a cell. Select Table Tools Layout Split Table. Note: If the new table contains multiple rows, it can also be split. If youd like to format or style your table, select Table Tools Design and then select the style you want.
To split a table in Microsoft Word, you can use the following shortcut: Ctrl + Shift + Enter: This is the correct shortcut key for splitting a table in MS Word. You can place your cursor where you want to split the table, then press these keys to divide the table into two separate tables at the cursors location.
If the table has a single row, and that row extends longer than a page, then Word once again gets a bit confused. Right-click the table, choose Table Properties, display the Row tab, and select the Allow Row to Break Across Pages check box.
