VLOOKUP Formula Example For example, if you have the full state name in cell C5, use the formula =VLOOKUP(C5,states,2,0) to get the corresponding abbreviation. This VLOOKUP function will convert the full state name from cell C5 into its 2-letter code by referencing the states table.
To remove all formatting in Excel, just do the following: Select the cell or range of cells from which you want to clear formatting. On the Home tab, in the Editing group, click the arrow next to the Clear button. Select the Clear Formats option.
To extract ZIP codes from addresses in Excel, formulas like RIGHT, MID, and TEXTAFTER can be utilized. The RIGHT function is effective when ZIP codes are at the end of the address string. For an address where the ZIP code is in a fixed position, the MID function can retrieve the ZIP code.
Text to Columns is a feature found in the Data tab of the ribbon that allows you to quickly split text into two or more columns. To use this feature to separate city, state, and zip codes, select the column containing the address information and click the Text to Columns button.
They can do this by copying all the cells and pasting only as values. To paste as only values, they can select Home Paste Paste Special Values. This eliminates all formulas and connections, and therefore would also remove any #VALUE! errors.
Use the Geography data type Type some text in cells. For example, type a country, state, province, territory, or city name into each cell. Then select the cells. Although its not required, we recommend creating an Excel table.
