It may take a few minutes for the AMI to be created. After it is created, it will appear in the AMIs view in AWS Explorer. To display this view, double-click the Amazon EC2 | AMIs node in AWS Explorer. To see your AMIs, from the Viewing drop-down list, choose Owned By Me.
Depending on the size of the volumes, it can take several minutes for the AMI-creation process to complete (sometimes up to 24 hours). You may find it more efficient to create snapshots of your volumes prior to creating your AMI.
An Amazon Machine Image (AMI) is a master image for the creation of virtual servers -- known as EC2 instances -- in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) environment. The machine images are like templates that are configured with an operating system and other software that determine the users operating environment.
Your answer Snapshot the volume. Create a new smaller EBS volume. Attach the new volume. Format the new volume. Mount the new volume. Copy data from the old volume to the new volume. Prepare the new volume. Detach and unmount the old volume.
To view the progress of your AMI creation, complete the following steps: Open the Amazon EC2 console. Navigate to the Snapshot section and filter snapshots by Description. Make sure to use the AMI ID.
With a range of up to 46 miles (WMTC) and charging from 0% to 100% in just 4 hours, Ami ensures effortless electric mobility for your daily commutes and errands.
Resizing an EBS-backed instance Open the EC2 console. Select the instance you wish to resize, and stop the instance. With the selected instance, choose Actions Instance Settings Change Instance Type. From the Change Instance Type dialog box, choose which instance you would like to resize to.
