Convert a table to text Select the rows or table you want to convert to text. On the Layout tab, in the Data section, click Convert to Text. In the Convert to Text box, under Separate text with, click the separator character you want to use in place of the column boundaries. Click OK.
In the Save As dialog box, navigate to the location you want. Click the arrow in the Save as type box and pick the type of text or CSV file format you want. Note: The file formats youll see vary, depending on what type of sheet is active in your workbook (a worksheet, chart sheet, or other type of sheet).
If you are importing a plain text file (i.e., . csv or . txt), select a Separator type. This will letter or symbol will be used by Google Sheets to separate cells.
