now if youamp;#39;re like me you probably have seen a couple of examples of base64 encoding and you most likely have seen them from image sources on the image tag where instead of a path to a specific image you have a long string of numbers and we are characters now somehow that combined together to form an image so today i want to go over how we can convert something into a base64 equivalent and convert it back so hopefully this will help you with understanding of how base64 encoding works and hopefully will help you with your future projects now for a best way to learn about this i think is to actually do it so for us letamp;#39;s do an example where we convert the word hello into a base64 equivalent letamp;#39;s see how that works so the first step to convert a something like a string like hello into basic civil equivalent is to convert it into binary so the binary form of hello we can use a website here which would tell us exactly what the binary form of this word is right so th

Base64 is a encoding technique that represents binary data in a human-readable (text) format which generally contains 64 different characters. The resulting base64 data(encoded data) can be easily transmitted over various channels which only supports-text based data transmission such as email, HTTP OR XML.
In other words, any base-64 string can be decoded, as long as the string was encoded using a standard set of characters (which the decoder can also understand).
How to decode Base64 online using this decoder tool Paste your string in the Base64 field. Select the algorithm standard (if you do not know, leave it as it is, as the decoder will automatically detect it). Enable the strict decoding mode if you want to make sure that your Base64 string contains only valid characters.
Base64 is used because some systems are restricted to ASCII characters but are actually used for all kinds of data. Base64 can camouflage this data as ASCII and thus help this data pass validation. Because some older systems think that data consists of 7-bit chunks (bytes), whereas modern ones use 8-bit bytes.
Radix-64 (as described for OpenPGP) The checksum is calculated on the input data before encoding; the checksum is then encoded with the same Base64 algorithm and, using an additional = symbol as separator, appended to the encoded output data.
What is Radix 64 Encoding? Radix 64 encoding allows binary data stored in octets (i.e. bytes) to be expressed as printable characters.
2. Using base64 2.1. Encode. In general, we can use the base64 command to encode a string: $ echo -n Hello, World! | base64 SGVsbG8sIFdvcmxkIQ== 2.2. Decode. To perform decoding, we use the -d flag with the base64 command: $ base64 -d
To decode with base64 you need to use the --decode flag. With encoded string, you can pipe an echo command into base64 as you did to encode it. Using the example encoding shown above, lets decode it back into its original form. Provided your encoding was not corrupted the output should be your original string.
