Radio buttons are distinct from checkboxes. The user can change options between a set of radio buttons, but it cannot be deselected. You can refer to this answer for a better explanation as to Why is it impossible to deselect HTML radio inputs?
You can check a radio button by default by adding the checked HTML attribute to the element. You can disable a radio button by adding the disabled HTML attribute to both the and the .
To disable the radio button, add the disabled attribute within the element.
If you want to uncheck all the radio buttons and checkboxes you will need to add one single line (in bold): $(#clear-all). click(function () { $(:checkbox).
For radio buttons, the space bar selects the item, but has no effect thereafter. The only way to deselect the radio button is to move to another radio button in the same set and select it. The accelerator key for both has the same effect as pressing the space bar when the check box or radio button has the focus.
In the clearRadio() function, we access the radio input using its id. Next, we access the checked property of the radio input and assign a false boolean value to uncheck the radio button. In the above output, users can observe that it will clear the radio input whenever they press the uncheck radio button.
A radio button is a graphical user interface element that allows you to select only one option from a predefined set of mutually exclusive options.
This is the functional definition of radio-buttons. Once a selection is made, you can only switch from one button to another, not de-select them entirely (unless you reset the form). Tools - Forms - Preapare Form - More Options - Clear Form.
