It is a good idea to note down five to eight thoughtful and intelligent questions that you want to ask the interviewer at the end. Most interviewers will ask you if there is anything that you would like to ask them.
First, show consideration for the interviewer and their process by asking, Is it all right if I take a few notes? Most will say Of course, but if the interviewer has any objection, simply smile and go along with their wishes.
Any job interview can be broken down into four general stages: introductions, broad questions and answers, position-related questions, and the conclusion.
Use your notes as prompts, meaning each note contains just a few words. This is enough to stimulate your memory but not too much that its necessary to read them through or feel reliant on them. Remember that your interviewer wants you to be present while you talk with them.
As a general rule, you can bring notes of questions youd like to ask an interviewer and a lightly annotated CV. Its not a great idea to take pre-prepared notes that will help you answer the questions youre expecting keep those answers sounding spontaneous.
In most cases, yes, it is perfectly acceptable to bring notes to an interview. However, politely asking the interviewer for permission beforehand is always a good idea. This demonstrates respect and professionalism.
