Short guide: Tap the Settings icon to open the Settings app. Scroll down and tap Accessibility. Scroll down to Interaction controls and tap Auto-rotate screen to turn it off.
Select Start Settings System Display, and choose a screen orientation from the drop-down list labelled Orientation.
Screen orientation lock​ For Android, open the AndroidManifest. xml file and within the activity element add android:screenOrientation=portrait to lock to portrait or android:screenOrientation=landscape to lock to landscape.
XML Layout File Using XML Layout Files allows for a visual representation of UI components, where each view and layout is defined with XML tags.
Youll find this setting in the Quick Settings menu. If you see Auto rotate highlighted in blue, then auto rotate is turned on. If you dont see Auto rotate, but theres a Portrait icon instead, auto rotate is disabled. Tap Portrait to turn on auto rotate.
The most straightforward way to disable landscape mode is by modifying your AndroidManifest. xml file. This method ensures that your activity remains in portrait mode regardless of device rotation. By adding android:screenOrientation=portrait to your activity tag, you can lock the orientation to portrait mode.
You can access the quick menu on most Android smartphones and tablets by swiping down on your phone screen. Touch the auto-rotate/rotate lock icon.
Swipe down from the top-right corner of your screen to open Control Center. 2. Tap the Portrait Orientation Lock button to make sure that its off. Once Orientation Lock is off, return to you message apps to confirm that its back to the vertical view.
