so hi everybody and welcome to todayamp;#39;s lego technic video uh what iamp;#39;m going to be showing you today is a celebration of pi day and of course pi day is today 14th of march uh of course 14th of march is the first three digits of pi 314 so what is pi anyway so pi is probably one most well-known mathematical constants itamp;#39;s equal to the ratio of the circumference to the diameter of a circle and itamp;#39;s an irrational number so that means the digits go on forever and the first uh you know four or five digits is three one four one five nine two six and of course when youamp;#39;re doing a mathematical calculation on a computer or in a calculator or even by hand you canamp;#39;t really work with an infinite number of digits so you need a smaller number of digits to work with so you have to approximate pi with a some sort of approximation and one way of doing that is to use a fraction like 22 over 7 which gives you pi to three docHub figures which is n

Pi is an irrational number, which means that it is a real number that cannot be expressed by a simple fraction. Thats because pi is what mathematicians call an infinite decimal after the decimal point, the digits go on forever and ever.
In fact, not a single naturally occurring math constant has been proved normal in even one number base, to the chagrin of mathematicians. While many constants are believed to be normal -- including pi, the square root of 2, and the natural logarithm of 2, often written log(2) -- there are no proofs.
Binary (base-2) pi: 11.00100 10000 11111 10110 10101 00010 00100 00101 10100 01100 00100 01101 00110 00100 11000 11001 10001 01000 10111 00000 . . . Trinary (base-3) pi: 10.01021 10122 22010 21100 21111 10221 22222 01112 01212 12120 01211 00100 10122 20222 12012 01211 12101 21011 20022 01202 . . .
For example, the decimal number 0.3 10 cannot easily be represented in the binary system. 2 -1 10 = 0.5 10 is already too large and 2 -2 10 = 0.25 is too small.
Binary (base-2) pi: 11.00100 10000 11111 10110 10101 00010 00100 00101 10100 01100 00100 01101 00110 00100 11000 11001 10001 01000 10111 00000 . . .
Negative Numbers The simplest is to simply use the leftmost digit of the number as a special value to represent the sign of the number: 0 = positive, 1 = negative. For example, a value of positive 12 (decimal) would be written as 01100 in binary, but negative 12 (decimal) would be written as 11100.
Binary numbers are converted into letters using the American Society for Information Interchange codes. Each letter consists of eight numbers. Uppercase letters start with 010 and lowercase letters start with 011. The letter a is 01100001.
