DITA (Darwin Information Typing Architecture) is a method of writing and storing content using a set of structuring rules that tell machines how to interpret that content. Its essentially a system of tags and maps that allow you to navigate through your content more easily.
Over the years, many firmsprimarily in the software and high tech sectorshave acknowledged that they are using DITA. There are two distinct types of DITA documents, topics and maps. In addition to the DITA topic and map types, Arbortext also supports the DITA Ditabase document type. DITA Ditabase documents are used to collect different types of DITA topics into a single document.
The Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) is an XML-based standard that allows you to separate content creation from layout, allowing the system to process and organize content in appropriate sections across multiple documents with minimal calls.
The Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) 1.3 specification defines both a) a set of document types for authoring and organizing topic-oriented information; and b) a set of mechanisms for combining, extending, and constraining document types.
