Atlas can automatically create indexes for your serverless instance to improve query performance.
You can find all the available indexes in a MongoDB collection by using the getIndexes method. This will return all the indexes in a specific collection. Result: The output contains the default id index and the user-created index student name index.
Indexes support efficient execution of queries in MongoDB. If your application is repeatedly running queries on the same fields, you can create an index on those fields to improve performance for those queries. To create an index, use the createIndex() shell method or equivalent method for your driver.
To modify an existing index in the MongoDB Shell, you need to drop and recreate the index. The exception to this rule is TTL indexes, which can be modified via the collMod command in conjunction with the index collection flag.
The CREATE INDEX statement is used to create indexes in tables. Indexes are used to retrieve data from the database more quickly than otherwise. The users cannot see the indexes, they are just used to speed up searches/queries.
INCLUDE (column [ , n ] ) Specifies the non-key columns to be added to the leaf level of the nonclustered index. The nonclustered index can be unique or non-unique. Column names cant be repeated in the INCLUDE list and cant be used simultaneously as both key and non-key columns.
To create an index using the Node. JS driver, use createIndex() . To create an index using the Perl driver , use createone() . To create an index using the PHP driver, use MongoDB\\Collection::createIndex() .
To drop all indexes except the id index and the last remaining shard key index from the collection if one exists, specify * . To drop a single index, specify either the index name, the index specification document (unless the index is a text index), or an array of the index name.
The MongoDB shell provides the following methods to update documents in a collection: To update a single document, use db. collection. updateOne() . To update multiple documents, use db. collection. updateMany() . To replace a document, use db. collection. replaceOne() .
To modify an existing index in the MongoDB Shell, you need to drop and recreate the index. The exception to this rule is TTL indexes, which can be modified via the collMod command in conjunction with the index collection flag. To modify an existing index in MongoDB Compass, you need to drop and recreate the index.
