XML DOM renameNode() Method The renameNode() method renames an existing element or attribute node. When possible, this changes the name of the given node, otherwise this creates a new node with the specified name and replaces the existing node with the new node. This method returns the renamed node.
To rename a node, use the system node rename command. The -newname parameter specifies the new name for the node. The system node rename man page describes the rules for specifying the node name. If you want to rename multiple nodes in the cluster, you must run the command for each node individually.
XML Naming Rules Element names must start with a letter or underscore. Element names cannot start with the letters xml (or XML, or Xml, etc) Element names can contain letters, digits, hyphens, underscores, and periods. Element names cannot contain spaces.
The field name is the name of a field in your index. The field name might represent the name of an IDX field ( #DREFIELD ), or an XML tag or attribute. A field identifier is the full name and path of the field in your index, for example the full path to the XML tag or attribute.
In XML, you can indicate an empty element like this: or you can use an empty tag, like this (this sort of element syntax is called self-closing): The two forms above produce identical results in an XML parser.
In the DOM, attributes are nodes. Unlike element nodes, attribute nodes have text values. The way to change the value of an attribute, is to change its text value. This can be done using the setAttribute() method or setting the nodeValue property of the attribute node.
Description. The nodeName string property reflects the name of theNode . Since only two node types are supported by ActionScript (element nodes and text nodes), nodeName has only two possible values: If theNode is an element node, nodeName is a string matching the tag name of that element.
