If you prioritize image quality, editing flexibility, and have the time to invest in post-processing, capturing the image in RAW is recommended. On the other hand, if convenience, smaller file sizes, and ease of sharing are important to you, then shooting in JPEG format may be more suitable. To open a RAW file, you need image editing software such as docHub Photoshop or docHub Lightroom. The most appropriate software to open a RAW file depends on your camera type and computer operating system or smartphone. After opening a RAW file, you can then convert and export it in your desired image format. What is a RAW file and how do you open it? - docHub docHub file-types image raw docHub file-types image raw
Providing the RAW files could undermine their efforts and potentially reflect poorly on their work if the client decides to edit the files themselves. Another reason why a photographer may not want to give their clients RAW files is that it could damage their professional reputation.
The main difference between any JPEG and RAW file is its size. RAW files are docHubly bigger than JPEG (and any other) image file formats. Thats because they contain all the raw image information captured by your digital cameras sensors, completely uncompressed. If you have a JPEG file, then it is not a RAW file. Most cameras can do that processing themselves, so that they save their images in JPEG format, or they can write the RAW data into a file for processing on your computer. Either way, if you know your file is a JPEG file, then by definition it is not a RAW file.
RAW files preserve all of the original data from the imaging sensor of the camera, much like a negative, thus providing an unaltered original. RAW files themselves cannot be altered, which prevents not only inadvertent image manipulation but it also prevents intentional manipulation of forensic evidence.
5 days ago What is a RAW file? A RAW file is lossless, meaning it captures uncompressed data from your camera sensor. Sometimes referred to as a digital negative, you can think of a RAW file as the raw ingredients of a photo that will need to be processed in order to bring out the pictures full potential. Photographers dont give RAWs because theyre unfinished products. Were far too proud of our work to put it out into the world without our finishing touches on it.
The fine tuned editing, the color correction, the skin retouching, those are all equivalent to preparing and cooking those raw ingredients. Simply put, you dont ask a professional photographer to give you their RAW photos because that would be giving you only half of an unfinished work of art.
As you might expect, the tradeoff for these detailed files is that RAW files are quite a bit larger than JPEG files. Still, most professional photographers shoot in RAW because it gives them more information to work with in the post-processing phase.
