The ACL or amp;quot;Anterior Cruciate Ligament, amp;quot; is one of two ligaments inside the knee joint. Together, the ACL and PCL or amp;quot;Posterior Cruciate Ligament, amp;quot; stabilize the knee. The ACL travels from the back to the front of the knee joint and is connected to the femur and the tibia. The ACL plays an important role when you perform activities in sports that require changing direction. When the leg and body change direction, the ACL holds the femur and tibia together. If the knee receives too much stress, the ACL could be sprained or completely torn. Without the ACL, the tibia can now move forward freely, making the knee less stable. To confirm the degree of your ACL injury, the experts the the Sports Medicine Center at Childrenamp;#39;s Hospital Colorado will perform a physical exam and use imaging like X-ray and MRI. If surgery is required, Childrenamp;#39;s Hospital Colorado specializes in surgical techniques that repair the ACL while protecting the growth

The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is one of the key ligaments that help stabilize the knee joint. The ACL connects the thighbone (femur) to the shinbone (tibia). Its most commonly torn during sports that involve sudden stops and changes in direction such as basketball, soccer, tennis and volleyball.
The ACL is toward the front of the knee. Its the most common ligament to be injured. The ACL is often stretched or torn during a sudden twisting motion. For instance, when the feet stay planted one way, but the knees turn the other way.
What are the results? Even though almost 700 people have been braced, the first research published on the protocol in June 2023 only looked at the initial 80 participants. It found that at the 12-week mark, 90 per cent of ACLs had healed.
The Cross Bracing Protocol involves immobilising the leg at 90 degrees for four weeks and then gradually increasing the range of motion via a specific schedule until full extension is docHubed and the brace can be removed. This approach has shown ACL healing in 90% of cases and shown many promising results.
While not always the case, an ACL tear is in most cases going to be the more severe injury. It is considered worse than tearing the MCL because ACL tears are in general more complex to treat and require a longer recovery time after surgery.
Cruciate Ligaments These are found inside your knee joint. They cross each other to form an X, with the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in front and the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) in back. The cruciate ligaments control the front and back motion of your knee.
Yes, this will not be comfortable, but its vital to keep the knee joint completely straight immediately after your ACL reconstruction. This gives the joint time to heal properly without stressing your newly-fixed ligament.
