The entity-body (if any) sent with an HTTP request or response is in a format and encoding defined by the entity-header fields. An entity-body is only present in a message when a message-body is present, as described in section 4.3.
A request is made up of several parts: the URL; the HTTP method; any headers; and the body.
One of the most commonly used methods is the GET method, which retrieves data from a server. While HTTP specifications do not forbid sending a body with a GET request, doing so is non-standard and can lead to various problems.
The RFC 9110 states that a GET request should be cacheable. That constraint is violated if we send a body because proxies wont read that request body. As a result of uncached data, well hit performance issues due to multiple server calls.
An HTTP response has both a header and a body. The header info tells the browser about the protocol being used, whether the request was successful, and what kind of content is included in the body. The body contains the contents (for example, HTML) for the browser to display.
The syntax of an HTTP request is a rather sentence-like structure. A noun (data values expressed in the message header, options chosen, and body message values) is coupled with a verb (the HTTP request method used, such as GET or POST) to form the complete message.
DELETE cannot have request body, just like GET cannot have a request body. (Well, its a syntactically valid HTTP message, but theres no semantic meaning to the body.)
The start-line and HTTP headers of the HTTP message are collectively known as the head of the requests, whereas its payload is known as the body.
