A Form 104 (Form of Notice to a Coroner of Intention to Remove a Body out of England) - you can get this from either the Registrar who registered the death or from your funeral director who will complete the form on your behalf.
The only parts of the body that are removed before cremation are artificial ones like a medical device or implant with a battery, silicone, pins, radiation pressurization, pacemakers, and large hip, knee, and shoulder replacements along with any external jewelry.
Typically, if there has been a traditional funeral (with the body) present, the deceased will be cremated in whatever clothing they were wearing. If the cremation is done right after death, then it is usually done with the deceased wearing whatever clothing they were wearing at the time they died.
Even after the skeleton has been burnt, there is one body part that is not affected entirely, and that is the teeth. This is because teeth are made up of calcium phosphate. Teeth formation is also one of the other docHub reasons why they do not turn into ashes after coming into contact with the fire.
The coroner will release the body for a funeral once they have completed the post-mortem examinations and no further examinations are needed. If the body is released with no inquest, the coroner will send a form (Pink Form - form 100B) to the registrar stating the cause of death.
If a medical device / implant has any kind of battery, radiation, pressurisation or silicone in its manufacture, it must be removed before a cremation can take place. Otherwise, the cremator(s) could suffer serious damage.
The post-mortem examination will usually take place and the body released for funeral within a week of the death but the Coroners office and your funeral director will keep you informed. Post-mortem examinations are carried out by Consultant Pathologists (or trainees under the supervision of a Consultant Pathologist).
Is a body drained before cremation? Draining a body of fluids does not happen before cremation. If a body is embalmed before cremation, the bodily fluids are exchanged (drained, and then replaced) with chemicals during the embalming process.
