Each raster dataset in a mosaic dataset can have its own attribute table. The method of storage allows you to view the input images and see information about each of the datasets. The associated information provides information about the pixels, or in a mosaic dataset the metadata about the input images.
One of the main differences between raster vs vector data is how it is represented. While raster data is composed of cells in a matrix, vector data is composed of XY coordinates. These coordinates, also known as vertices, define the shape of an object such as a river, building, forest, road, etc.
If the range of values is greater than 100,000 and the number of unique values is greater than 500, a raster attribute table is not automatically built. By default, the size of a raster attribute table is limited to 65,535 unique values.
Vector Data: This type of geographic data stores information in the form of points, lines, or polygons, along with the attribute data of these objects. Raster Data: This type of geographic data stores information in the form of a grid of regularly sized pixels, with attribute data assigned to each pixel.
Attribute Data Types for GIS Character Data. The character property (or string) is for text based values such as the name of a street or descriptive values such as the condition of a street. Numeric Data. Date/Time Data. BLOB Data.
Raster files are also commonly used for editing images, photos and graphics. Vector files work better for digital illustrations, complex graphics and logos. Thats because the resolution of vectors remains the same when resized, making them suitable for a wide variety of printed formats.
