You can upload a zip file (or any other type of file) following the normal procedure for uploading a file to Google Drive. However, keep in mind that to open the zip file, you will have to download again from Drive as Drive does not unzip files.

One key element to note: when you are trying to access the zip file from Google Classroom, ensure that the file is opened in a new browser tab/window (e.g. right-click on the file link and choose to open in a new tab/window). If the file is opened in a preview window, you may encounter an error.
