How do they attach a cadaver in ACL?

The surgeon drills small holes into the upper and lower leg bones where these bones come close together at the knee joint. The holes form tunnels through which the graft will be anchored. The surgeon will also make another incision in the knee and insert the graft (replacement tissue).

How do they attach an ACL graft?

The graft is threaded across the knee, leaving a piece of bone in each of the tunnels and the patellar tendon in the position of the original ACL, thus reconstructing the ligament. The graft is then secured in this position, most commonly by wedging a screw between the side of the bone and the tunnel.

Graft Insertion A guide wire is inserted through the tibia and femur to help accurately drill tunnels. A surgical drill is inserted over the guide wire and a new tunnel in the femur and tibia is created for your new ACL Graft. The end of the graft is tied to a loop on the guide wire and the graft is pulled into place.

How to treat an ACL tear without surgery?

Staying away from the physical activity that may have contributed to the ACL tear is also necessary. During the first few days after the injury, applying ice and elevating your knee for 15 minutes, 3 times a day, can reduce swelling. Wearing a compression bandage on the knee may also reduce swelling.
