you asked for videos on ACLs and NAT on a si firewalls well Ive heard you and here it is in this video we start with ACLs and we move to notes in part two but lets not waste any time lets get right into it were going to approach ACLs by using a lab we have an internal network which is a switch and two workstations this is safely placed behind our a si firewall on the inside interface we also have a server this is our intranet web page and is also our DNS server it needs to be accessible by people both inside and outside the network so its located in the DMZ or perhaps DMZ if you prefer but Im Australian so Im going to say DMZ on the outside interface we have a router to represent our connection to the Internet and a webserver to represent a resource on the internet that we want to access were keeping this simple so we can focus on the ACLs so some of this lab is pre-configured where decrementing TTL by default and ICMP inspection is enabled were also only going to use ipv4 I

ACLs are stored in the part of an NTFS partition that does all the background plumbing - the MFT (Master File Table). The ACL does not follow a file around, since it is not a part of the file (just like the filename it is metadata). The file can cross partition type boundaries (NTFS-FAT), the ACL cannot.
An ACL is a list of permissions that are associated with a directory or file. It defines which users are allowed to access a particular directory or file. An access control entry in the ACL defines the permissions for a user or a group of users. An ACL usually consists of multiple entries.
How to Set an ACL on a File Set an ACL on a file by using the setfacl command. $ setfacl -s user:: perms ,group:: perms ,other: perms ,mask: perms , acl-entry-list filename -s. Verify that an ACL was set on the file or verify which ACL entries were set on the file. $ getfacl filename.
To completely remove an entire ACL, first remove it from the interface by using the no ip access-group access-list-number command on the specific interface and then use the global configuration no access-list access-list-number command to delete the entire ACL.
Description. getfacl displays the comment header, base ACL (access control list) entries, and extended ACL entries, if there are any, for each file that is specified. It also resolves symbolic links. You can specify whether to display access, file default, or directory default.
Procedure If the connection you want to create the ACL for is not open, search for and select the connection. Select Add a new list from the Access Control List (ACL) drop-down list. Enter a name and description. Enter the remaining ACL settings. Setting. Description. Access for Users. Click Save New ACL.
How to Delete ACL Entries From a File Delete ACL entries from a file by using the setfacl command. $ setfacl -d acl-entry-list filename -d. Deletes the specified ACL entries. acl-entry-list. To verify that the ACL entries were deleted from the file, by using the getfacl command. $ getfacl filename.
Check if a file has an ACL by using the ls command. filename specifies the file or directory. In the output, a plus sign (+) to the right of the mode field indicates that the file has an ACL.
Heres the basic difference between the two: For any share point or shared folder or file, POSIX permissions allow you to set permissions only for the Owner, one Group, and Others. ACLs give you the additional option to set permissions for multiple individuals and multiple groups for a shared item.
This type of situation is what Linux Access Control Lists (ACLs) were intended to resolve. ACLs allow us to apply a more specific set of permissions to a file or directory without (necessarily) changing the base ownership and permissions. They let us tack on access for other users or groups.
