In the UK, a 2.1 GPA is equivalent to an Upper Second Class Honours degree, which is a high level of achievement in undergraduate studies.
A 2.1 degree, also known as an upper second-class honours, is a strong academic achievement. It indicates consistent academic performance and a good understanding of your subject.
The Grading System The minimum passing grade for a course is a D-.
The grading system varies slightly between universities, but generally, a score of 70 or above is considered a First-class Honours degree, 60-69 is an Upper Second-class Honours degree, 50-59 is a Lower Second-class Honours degree, 40-49 is a Third-class Honours degree, and below 40 is a Fail.
Heres what the numbers mean: First-class honours (1st): this is the highest degree classification. Usually, the average overall score of 70%+ Second-class honours, upper division (2.1): usually, the average overall exam score of 60%+
A First-Class Honours (a 1st) = Grade A** An Upper Second-Class Honours (a 2:1, pronounced two-one) = Grade A* A Lower Second-Class Honours (a 2:2, pronounced two-two) = Grade A. A Third-Class Honours (a 3rd) = Grade B.
While it may be disappointing, dont panic. ing to the DLHE data we collect annually, there is no docHub difference between undergraduates who got a 2.1 and those who got a 2.2 in terms of starting salary and percentage unemployed and looking for work, six months after graduation.
Medical Grades: Pre-clerkship courses are graded on a pass/ fail basis. Clerkship courses are graded on an honors/ high pass/ pass/ fail system (H, HP, P, F). See the College of Medicine Grading System for more information.
