All XML elements must have a closing tag It is illegal to omit the closing tag when you are creating XML syntax. XML elements must have a closing tag.
Specifying special characters in XML request ● Ampersand () - amp; ● Less than () - gt; ● Quote () - quot; ● Apostrophe () - apos;
The ampersand character must be escaped. The greater than and less than characters do no have to be escaped but its good practice to do it. The double quotes in the data must be escaped. The double quotes do not need escaping as they are contained within a single quoted attribute.
In XML, you can indicate an empty element like this: or you can use an empty tag, like this (this sort of element syntax is called self-closing): The two forms above produce identical results in an XML parser.
While using a text editor to edit XML, add spaces and line breaks into the element content model for better readability of the XML. This white space is not part of the information conveyed by the document and has no semantic significance for the XML application.
Note that the ampersand () and less-than (
Since XML cannot handle special characters, you should use the escape characters. So, element should be replaced with amp. (Greater than) to #62.
