Cover letter spacing for printed, pdf, and email formats Single-space your cover letter text within paragraphs or address sections. Skip a line in between paragraphs, before and after the salutation, and before the sign-off (e.g., Sincerely, Regards).
Sending as Email Attachments Save your resume and cover letter into Word or a PDF document. A PDF will retain your formatting, and is most common. Use your own name in the title you give your document, so the employer will be able to identify it when looking through documents for your resume or cover letter.
If you mail your cover letter to an employer, do not staple it to your resume. Just place it on top of the resume as you fold the documents to fit into the envelope. Use the same good quality stock paper as your resume.
Spacing Single-space your cover letter. Leave a space between addresses and dates in the heading. Leave a space between your heading (contact info) and greeting (Dear:). Leave a space between each paragraph. Leave at least three spaces between your complimentary close (Sincerely,) and typed name.

After your enclosure section, type the notation CC followed by a colon. Next, include the name of the person youre sending the letter to. For multiple senders, include each name on a separate line. With electronic mail (email), the email address portion of your email heading consists of the version of CC.
On the third line, write Enclosure: or Enclosures: if there are multiple documents. Skip a line after Enclosures: and then begin your list of enclosures. Put each enclosed document title on its own line.
Unless an employer specifically asks for you to include your cover letter and your resume in the body of your email, send them as separate email attachments. You should always write a real cover letter and attach it to the email.
The enclosure notation in a letter goes near the bottom of the page, three lines below your signature or one line below the typists initials, in the case of a regular business letter. Out of the seven basic parts of a business letter, the enclosure notation is the last.
