In German, TAKT stands for Takzeit, meaning Music or Rhythm of Music. TAKT is a measurement and a discipline based on known and existing production principles and practices. TAKT time is the maximum acceptable time to meet the demands of the customer.
Cycle Time and Takt Time are different. Cycle Time is how often a part is completed by a particular process and Takt Time is a customer demand calculation that tells you how often a part should be completed by a particular process in order to meet demand.
It comes from the German word Takt, meaning beat or pulse in music. Within manufacturing, takt is an important measure of output against demand.
Put simply, takt time refers to the amount of time a manufacturer has per unit to produce enough goods to fulfil customer demand. Frequently used within lean production lines, takt time is an essential tool in ensuring that goods flow through each build station in the most efficient manner.
T.A.C.T. is an acronym for Time, Agitation, Concentration and Temperature.
Takt time is a borrowing of the Japanese word takuto taimu (タクトタイム), which in turn was borrowed from the German word Taktzeit, meaning cycle time. The word was likely introduced to Japan by German engineers in the 1930s.
Takt time is a calculation of the available production time divided by customer demand. For example, if a widget factory operates 480 minutes per day and customers demand 240 widgets per day, takt time is two minutes. Similarly, if customers want two new products per month, takt time is two weeks.
Takt Time is calculated as Available Production Time divided by Customer Demand. Takt time represents the amount of production time time you have available to make each part in order to meet customer demand.
Cycle Time = End Date Start Date In other words, if you start a task on the 15th of April and complete it on the 25th of April, then the cycle time is 10 days.
Takt Time is calculated as Available Production Time divided by Customer Demand. Takt time represents the amount of production time time you have available to make each part in order to meet customer demand.
