10 Dont Worry Darlings Empty Eggs Point To A False Reality The shells with no real substance arent just a strange, unsettling image, but a hint at Dont Worry Darlings deeper themes and twist ending.
The tremors are meant to suggest that whatever Victory is doing out in the desert is dangerous; the women speculate they might be building futuristic weapons. But Victory isnt making anything; they exist only to keep the men in town happy and the women in town in virtual prison.
The twist ending of Dont Worry Darling is that Victory is actually a simulation. Frank (Chris Pine) came up with this idea because he wanted men to be able to control women and live as if its still the 1950s. Alice is understandably horrified to learn about what Victory really is.
Confronted by Alice, Jack confesses the truth: Victory is a simulated world created by Frank, where he and the other men lead their version of perfect lives; the women they have forced into the simulation are unaware that their lives in Victory, and their children, are artificial.
However, Gemma Chans character surprises audiences when she stabs Frank. It seems abrupt considering she is also trying to keep Alice from questioning the Victory Project and the community. But the Dont Worry Darling ending explained that Shelley was tired of playing second fiddle to Frank.
Eventually, the film reveals that Victory is a simulation, and that Jack is holding Alice there without her consent. In fact, Alice hasnt a clue about the Victory Projects existence or intentions. While in the simulation, she cant remember anything except the backstory Frank fabricated for the couple.
The reveal is this: Everyone in Victory is living in a simulation designed by Frank, who in our real (present-day) world is an incel-like cult leader who has brainwashed men to pay him to live in a virtual-reality simulation of the 1950s.
Dont Worry Darlings first woke victim in the VIctory Project is Margaret, who began having breakdowns where she would see visions about another life. She was waking up from the simulation she had been put under, and for that she was called mentally unstable and kept far away from the other women in the community.
