Below are some common questions from our customers that may provide you with the answer you're looking for. If you can't find an answer to your question, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.

Lightly spray suede cleaner on the saddle and use a suede block to work it into the saddle in circular motions. A suede block looks like an oversized pencil eraser. Suede cleaner removes stains caused by sweat and rain. Allow the suede to dry completely and clean monthly to raise the nap.
Using too much conditioner on your saddle can penetrate through to the padding or the tree which can cause damage over time.
The problem is when too much oil is used this stops the leather from being able to breathe. As humidity goes up and the leather adsorbs moisture if too much oil has been used the excess moisture will not be allowed to escape and this will start the leather to rot.
Too much oil will break down leather, cause excessive mildew, and leave residue on clothing. Oiling leather can also have a darkening effect. This might not be a problem for many horsemen but can be a concern for a western showman attempting to keep a saddle as light-colored as possible.
It depends but as a general rule you should oil your saddle before your first ride, and perhaps every 2 6 months there-after depending on how often you ride and your climate. If you ride in very dry or very humid conditions, you may need to oil or condition your saddle more often.
Here are the steps to condition your tack: Take one of your tack sponges and apply a small amount of leather conditioner to it. Using that sponge, apply a thin coat of conditioner to all the leather parts of your tack. Rub the conditioner into the leather and into all of the nooks and crannies in your tack.
Over-oiling can harm your saddles properties by making the leather stretch and cause the dye to seep. Remember, you dont have to oil your saddle for the first year of its life. After that, just apply oil once or twice a year based on how often you ride.
After getting caught in the rain, hang your tack to dry prior to treating it (never use heat to dry it as this will dry out the leather more). Start by taking the brittle tack completely apart and treating it with a leather cleaning solution. Then, use a leather conditioning oil to restore moisture to the leather.
