ASTM C719, Test Method for Adhesion and Cohesion of Elastomeric Joint Sealants under Cyclic Movement. 1.4. SUBMITTALS.
ASTM C679 determines the Tack-Free Time of Elastomeric Sealants, a type of mending glue used in construction. In this test, the sealant specimen is lightly touched with a polythene film at regular intervals to determine the time it takes for the sealant to dry.
5.1 The tack-free time is a measure of the surface cure time and may generally be correlated to a variety of useful parameters such as the time interval before the sealant (1) resists damage by touch or light surface contact, (2) resists job-site or airborne dirt pick-up, (3) resists impinging rainfall.
Tack-free refers to a coating condition whereby a coating is completely dry with little or no moisture left after application on the surface to be protected.
3. Thumb tack test: It is a qualitative test applied for tack property determination of adhesive.
The Loop Tack test is used to measure the tack force / strength of a pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) ing to ASTM D6195. Pressure sensitive adhesives are typically applied to films, labels, tapes, and stickers where the initial tack force is an important characteristic of the product.
In the rolling ball tack test, a ball is rolled on the adhesive surface of a sample tape, and the reciprocal of the arrival length of the rolling ball is used to express the tackiness. In this case, the contact pressure is the weight of the ball itself.
This test method describes how to determine the tack free time of a liquid OCF. The liquid foam is dispensed in a string on a horizontal surface. After a certain time for curing, the surface of the string is touched with a small rod or tube. The tack free time is docHubed when the surface doesnt stick anymore.
