The International One Design (IOD, International) is a class of sail boat developed in 1936 for yacht racing. It is a 33-foot open-cockpit day sailer used for day racing, rather than for overnight or ocean races.
IRC stands for International Rating Certificate. Originally, IR was an abbreviation for International Rule. However, since the Rule at that stage was not recognized under International Rule (sailing), that name was not permitted.
The masts of a full-rigged ship, from bow to stern, are: Foremast, which is the second tallest mast. Mainmast, the tallest. Mizzenmast, the third tallest.
The Worlds Most Popular One-Design Keelboat The J/24 is the worlds most popular keelboat class, with over 5,500 boats built and over 50,000 people actively sailing in more than 150 fleets in 40+ countries.
Hook a long tape measure up to your jib halyard (or top furling swivel on a furler see Furler Hoist below) just as if it were the head ring of the sail. Hoist it all the way until it stops at the top. Measure down to whatever point you intend to attach the sails tack to. This will be your MAX.
The International Offshore Rule (IOR) was a measurement rule for racing sailboats. The IOR evolved from the Cruising Club of America (CCA) rule for racer/cruisers and the Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC) rule.
This is very ineffective, as the fan pulls the boat backwards by shoving the air forwards, and the sail pulls the boat forwards with almost the same force by stopping the air again. The boat may not stay exactly stationary, but it sure wont make much progress.
The application forms for IRC rating certificates are available from individual Rule Authorities, either on their websites or by e-mail. Application forms are not published on this website. Your Rule Authority is in effect the local IRC agent.

I = Height of headstay termination above the sheer line. J = Distance between the headstay termination at the deck and the front of the mast at the sheer line. P = Distance between black bands on the mast, or the maximum luff length of the main.
