Once judgment is passed in favor of the landlord, the tenant must move out within 10 days. The appropriate law enforcement official must be given the Writ within 7 days from the day it is issued. There is no specific length of time for them to execute the Writ and forcefully evict the tenant.
They have to give you the notice at least 14 days before they evict you. You might be able to ask the court again to delay the date youll need to leave - for example if you can now repay your arrears or youre going to be homeless. Your council might have a legal duty to help you find you accommodation.
If the reason the landlord wants to evict the tenant is due to nonpayment of rent, then the legal notice the landlord must serve on the tenant is called a 7-day Demand for Nonpayment of Rent. See the Nolo article, Eviction Notices for Nonpayment of Rent in Michigan, for details on completing this process.
In Michigan, the law allows for faster access to court and a quicker resolution in an eviction case than a lawsuit would usually take. Its illegal for a landlord to evict you without going to court and getting an eviction order first.
The appropriate Eviction Notice to serve for non-payment of rent would be a 3 Day Notice to Pay or Quit, or a 30 or 60 Day Notice to Vacate. If the tenant has been there for less than a year paying on a month to month basis and you want to terminate their tenancy, a 30 Day Notice to Vacate is the correct form to serve.

Most of the time, a landlord needs to go to court before evicting you. If you did something dangerous or threatening, the landlord only needs to give you three (3) days to move out. If you did not pay rent or broke your lease agreement, you may be given a thirty (30) day notice to move out.
Eviction cases go through the following steps: You give the Tenant a Notice to Quit. You wait for the deadline requirement to pass. You start a court case by filing a Complaint. You give (serve) the Tenant a copy of the Complaint. The court holds an eviction hearing. The Tenant has 20 days to respond to the Complaint.
Evictions typically stay on your public record for up to seven years, but they usually wont show up on your credit reports or directly affect your credit.
