If its unlocked and you want to lock it, click the lock icon in the Layers panel above your layer stack to lock all the layers properties. With the keyboard shortcut: You can also use the keyboard shortcut of Command+/ (on Mac) or Ctrl+/ (on Windows) to lock or unlock any layer that you have selected.
Create and name a new blank layer To create a layer with default name and settings, click the New Layer button in the Layers panel. To create a layer and specify a name and options, choose Layer New Layer, or choose New Layer from the Layers panel menu.
The Move tool helps you position selected content or layers when customizing your work. Select the Move tool (V) . Use the Options bar to customize tool settings, like Alignment and Distribution, to get the effect you want. Click on an elementlike a layer, selection or artboardto move it.
Selecting a Layer To select a layer, just click on it in the Layers Palette. The layer will turn blue [shown right] to indicate that it has been selected. To select several layers, hold down the CMD (Mac) or CTRL (Windows) key on your keyboard and click on each layer you would like to have selected.
Move a selection In the Edit workspace, make a selection with a selection tool and select the Move tool from the toolbox. (Optional) Change Move tool settings in the options bar. Move the pointer inside the selection border, and drag the selection to a new position.
Photoshop Tools. The move tool allows you to move objects. You can select layers with it, so if each of your objects is on a separate layer, this tool will move those objects just by clicking on them and dragging. and then move it with the move tool.
Just hold down CTRL on a PC or COMMAND on a Mac, and youll instantly activate the Move tool no matter which tool is currently active. This makes it easy to rearrange your elements on the fly.
