In our previous videos, we created a simple XST file to validate an XML file using rules specified in an XML definition document. Now, we will focus on type and restriction. For genus, species, and cultivar, the maximum length is 64, and for common name, it is 100. We need to add these restrictions to our XSD file through refactoring. The current XSD file is simple, but we need to modify it to declare simple types explicitly. This involves splitting the XS element into an open and closed set, and declaring it as a simple type within.
