The command you need is: \footnote{text} . Do not leave a space between the command and the word where you wish the footnote marker to appear, otherwise LaTeX will process that space and will leave the output not looking as intended. Creating a footnote is easy. \footnote{An example footnote.}
The easiest (and most brutal) thing they suggest is setting \interfootnotelinepenalty=10000 , which will prevent the footnote from breaking across pages. Alternatively, they suggest adjusting the space on the page (using \enlargethispage{} ), to force the line with the footnote onto the next page.
ing to the cheat sheet provided by Overleaf support team, the alternative for quick comment/uncomment in case of missing / key is Ctrl + Shift + 7 (the one in the top line of the keyboard) or Ctrl + if is available on your keyboard.
In LaTeX, % can be used for single-line comments. For multi-line comments, the following command is available in the verbatim package. But is there a simple command like /* code */ in C?
By using \footnotemark[\value{footnote}] you can insert a superscript corresponding to the current value of the footnote counter but without incrementing the footnote counter value (for more information on counters, see this Overleaf help article).
In LaTeX, you can use the % (percent sign) to comment out a line of text in your source code. If youd like to include comments that appear in the PDF of your project, you can use the todonotes package.
You can insert a footnote marker using the \verb|\footnotemark|\footnotemark{} command and later, when youre ready, typeset the footnote text by writing \verb|\footnotetext{Heres the footnote.}

Add footnotes and endnotes Click where you want to add the footnote. Click Insert Insert Footnote. Word inserts a reference mark in the text and adds the footnote mark at the bottom of the page. Type the footnote text.
Creating Margin Notes In the Word source document, place your cursor at the point youd like to insert the margin note. In the Doc-To-Help ribbon, click the Margin Note button and select Create. Type the margin note (or insert an image) in the left column of the table.
