to mark your pattern pieces you need to use pattern tracing paper to transfer the markings so these are your notches and they tell you how to match up your garment so you dont want to cut the triangle out you just want to slit the midpoints and now with these two little nicks match up the opposite side and you can join the seam this notch is going to be on a corresponding pattern piece so cut out a small triangle through all the layers and now its really obvious that this is a match point and easy to find at a later stage cut along the cutting line and to prevent weakening the fabric rather than cutting into the fabric cut the shape out as if it is reflected these little symbols mean taylors tax so these will help me sew the dart of course once the pattern is removed you cant see these pattern markings so you need to transfer them with taylors tack to the fabric leaving a tail about an inch and a half long make a second stitch through the circle make a loop the same length as you
