and so this is the second uh lessons to be learnt uh webinar of the year and were here and this one were putting on in conjunction with the new zealand coastal society and uh dr rob bell has got a very interesting presentation for us today about the lessons that weve learned um when were trying to deal with some of the the ever-changing coastal margins uh leave it over to you rob thank you tina koto katoa called so my my names rob bell im currently the director managing director of my own consultancy bell adapt and also a teaching fellow and the environmental program at waikato university formerly with niwa and just to give a bit of context i started my career with the ministry of works water and soil division and youll see some of that work emerging as we talk about taming the coast so airtel new zealand has one of the longest and most diverse coastlines in the world its its ninth in terms of its length greater than fifteen thousand kilometers and i particularly at the outset
