Printing Tack (Set Rate): This test measures the ability of a paper to absorb the thin oils from ink and the set rate of ink on our standard paper or any other paper. As the oils leave the ink film, the ink sets and after time, eventually dries. If the ink contains heavy oxidation-type oils, it sets slowly.
Ink tack is the force needed to split an ink film. In the lab. the ink manufacturer uses Inkometer to read the tack. But when you emulsify the ink on press, the tack goes down about 50% or so.
Relief inks might refer to something like the Speedball water-based block-printing inks. They can be used for making linocuts and other relief prints, and for monoprints. Theyre not waterproof but theyre easy to work with and easy to clean up. what is the difference between Etching Ink and Relief Ink? - WetCanvas WetCanvas forums topic what-is-th WetCanvas forums topic what-is-th
