If there is picking and build-up problem during printing, tack reducer gel can be used to reduce tack value. Ink tack reducer is normally used to adjust the tack value without affecting the rheology. If there is picking and build-up problem during printing, tack reducer gel can be used to reduce tack value.
In other words, tack value reflects ink cohesive energy. When the separation velocity becomes very high, it will make ink prevent ink film from splitting on its maximal cohesive energy however the velocity increases.
STEP 1: The vehicle (usually soy bean oil) and pigment are mixed together. The vehicle is first heated up until it is much thinner and viscuous. Then the pigment is poured in to the vehicle and a mixing machine thoroughly disperses the ink into the vehicle. STEP 2: The mix is run through a bead mill.
Offset printing uses aluminum plates and rubber sheets to transfer ink onto paper, while inkjet printing directly transfers liquid ink onto the surface.
There are two basic types of pigment used in offset printing inks. Organic pigment, which is made from carbon, is used for making black ink. Inorganic pigments, which are made by mixing various chemicals together, are used for colored inks.
COMPOSITION: ink is made of three main ingredients: Pigment, which is the color- ing material in the ink; Vehicle, which is the liquid that holds the particles of pigment; and Modifiers, which control the drying of the ink as well as other factors such as smell, scuff resistance, and fading.
Tack is a measure of the forces required to split a single film into two. In case of ink, such film splitting is influenced by rheological and adhesive ink properties and the internal cohesion of the ink. Tack depends heavily on the ink formulation.
Offset (Paste) Inks While a letterpress ink was printed by individual sheets, the offset presses could churn out pages either by roll-to-roll or sheetfed presses. The three main types of offset inks are sheetfed, heatset and coldset inks. The inks are typically oil-based, and are dried after printing.
