hey screen printers itamp;#39;s Ryan from ryet and in this video youamp;#39;re going to learn what screen printing discharge ink is the shirt that Iamp;#39;m wearing today was given to me by Keith from the long viiew Garage in Texas thank you very much Keith for the awesome American Peril shirt all right so discharge ink is essentially a water-based ink that does something a little bit different than most plasticol and water-based inks instead of being a base that has a pigment in it to color the ink thatamp;#39;s printed and then cured into the Garment the discharge ink actually sets into the Garment and then bleaches out or redyes the Garment another color because thereamp;#39;s a redying process it only is geared for darker garments so a shirt like this wouldnamp;#39;t discharge because thereamp;#39;s no pigment or no color in the shirt to discharge out it works great on a black shirt because essentially think of discharge like bleach if youamp;#39;re going to bleach a white

Adding additives such as solvents or surfactants to the ink for specific adjustments can affect the surface tension. Therefore, retesting of adjusted inks prior to printing is critical to avoid defects.
Safe Wash Etching inks are oil -based which means they are stiffer when cold and softer when warm. If you need to soften or loosen your ink, you can also add a little Caligo Safe Wash Etching Extender (WTC 83840) If you need to make your ink stiffer, you can add traditional Whiting.
Tack is a measure of the forces required to split a single film into two. In case of ink, such film splitting is influenced by rheological and adhesive ink properties and the internal cohesion of the ink. Tack depends heavily on the ink formulation.
Magnesium Carbonate is traditionally used to stiffen ink. It will also reduce an inks gloss level. Once added to ink, Magnesium Carbonate becomes transparent and will not alter the color of the ink. We recommend adding small amounts at a time; little is needed to add body to an ink.
To stiffen the ink, add Akua Mag Mix or Magnesium Carbonate powder to the ink. If you dont have either of those on hand, corn starch or baby powder will do in a pinch.
Etching Inks Tend to be looser and less tacky. They have an overall buttery quality that lends itself well to painterly marks. Relief Inks Semi-stiff and semi-tacky.
Our Etching Ink is 100% natural and non toxic. Every colour is highly pigmented, delivering impressive covering power even after dilution. Like oil paints, Charbonnel inks absorb oxygen to dry. Depending on the colour, the drying time is between 2 and 3 weeks.
If there is picking and build-up problem during printing, tack reducer gel can be used to reduce tack value. Ink tack reducer is normally used to adjust the tack value without affecting the rheology. If there is picking and build-up problem during printing, tack reducer gel can be used to reduce tack value.
