Assuming youve sent your invitations out in time (at least six to eight weeks before your wedding), give your guests four or five weeks to RSVP. This is plenty of time for people to figure out if they want/are able to attend your wedding, as well as to figure out any necessary travel arrangements.
How long should guests have to RSVP for weddings? Ideally, the RSVP date should fall three to four weeks before the wedding, and the wedding invitation should be mailed six to eight weeks prior to the wedding.
RSVP, R.S.V.P., r.s.v.p., and R.s.v.p. are all acceptable ways to write the abbreviation, ing to etiquette experts at the Emily Post Institute. But both the Oxford English Dictionary and the AP Stylebook write the initialism without periods, as RSVP.
So about two weeks before the deadline, you can begin sending out reminders. Just make sure youre not sending this to everyone on the guest list. Avoid messaging anyone who has already submitted a response. You can be gentle and kind while still firmly asking for the RSVPs by a certain date.
Make sure to include: You and your dates full name and titles. Whether or not you will be attending. Dinner preference (if given the option) A Thank You for the Invitation. A Sign Off.
Spreadsheets are the most efficient way to record responses. If you create your own, include columns for the guests name, guest card number (see Number the cards below), number of guests, will attend, declined, and any entre preference or song requests, if relevant.
A good rule of thumb is to set your RSVP deadline two to three weeks before your formal event. Lean closer to the three-week mark for formal events like weddings. And lean closer to the two-week mark for casual events like backyard barbecues.
What Should Your Wedding RSVP Due Date Be? We recommend choosing a date thats about four weeks before your wedding date. Typically, your caterer and venue will want an accurate headcount one to two weeks before your wedding day. Before you create your invitations, ask them for a firm date.
