This set of videos is going to cover how Cobalt handles effects, and this system handles effects slightly differently from other systems in that we use an object called an Effect Playback. An effect playback is an object very much like a device channel, a moving light channel. So right now, I have a moving light selected, and you can see in our Device Controls Dock that you have a lot of parameters, like pan and tilt, focus, zoom, gobo wheels, color wheels, and so on. When you control a device channel with these handles, youre moving motors in an object thats hanging in your rig. Were panning a light, were tilting a light, that sort of thing. Traffic on Tack Coats Generally, traffic should not be allowed on tack coats. When a tacked road surface is exposed to traffic, the potential exists for reduced skid resistance, especially during wet weather (Flexible Pavements of Ohio, 2001).
Tack Coat BreakWhen water separates from the emulsion and the color of the tack coat begins to change from brown to black. Tack Coat SetWhen water has completely evaporated from an emulsion leaving a thin film of asphalt binder on the pavement.
Usually, most tack coat materials require 1 to 2 hr to fully cure (set). It is generally recommended to let the materials completely cure before placing a new HMA layer on top of them.
Tack coats are a vital component of an asphalt pavements structural system as they bond the multiple asphalt lifts into one monolithic layer. Poor tack coat application results in poor bonding of the asphalt layers.
A key, but sometimes overlooked, component of an asphalt pavement is the bond strength between asphalt pavement layers. Tack coat is a sprayed application of an asphalt binder upon an existing asphalt or Portland cement concrete pavement prior to an overlay, or between layers of new asphalt concrete.
Tack coat (also known as bond coat) is a light application of asphalt emulsion between hot mix asphalt layers designed to create a strong adhesive bond without slippage. Heavier applications may be used under porous layers or around patches where it also functions as a seal coat.
