The central dogma of biology has ruled for decades. But what if itamp;#39;s fundamentally flawed? Denis Noble is a maverick biologist, a fellow of the Royal Society, and a professor at the University of Oxford, who spent his career challenging the fundamental assumptions of modern genetics. From pioneering computer models in biology in the 1960s to his current crusade against gene-centric biology, Noble has never shied away from overturning scientific orthodoxy. Iamp;#39;m Curt Jaimungal, and in this lecture for my series on Rethinking the Foundations, Noble makes the case that our understanding of life and evolution is due for a radical overhaul. What is tack coat? Tack coat (also known as bond coat) is a light application of asphalt emulsion between hot mix asphalt layers designed to create a strong adhesive bond without slippage. Heavier applications may be used under porous layers or around patches where it also functions as a seal coat.
Usually, most tack coat materials require 1 to 2 hr to fully cure (set). It is generally recommended to let the materials completely cure before placing a new HMA layer on top of them. Various studies confirmed this recommendation by showing that longer curing time results in better interface strength performance.
Asphalt Application Temperature The tack coat material in the distributor tank must be kept at the proper temperature to assure that the material can be sprayed uniformly onto the existing pavement surface. When an asphalt emulsion is used, it should normally be applied at a temperature between 120oF and 160oF.
It is recommended that all application specifications be in terms of residual asphalt. While some researchers have indicated that tack coats may not always be needed to get good bonding, the preponderance of literature supports always using tack coats between lifts of asphalt.
After applying the glue, theres a waiting period of approximately 30 to 45 minutes before its optimal to spread the glitter.

Cut the tip ing to your needs. Squeeze dots of Tack-It Over Over onto wax paper or freezer paper (wax side) and let dry 24 hours. Glue dots appear white when wet and clear when dry. When youre ready to use your glue dots, simply peel and stick onto the backside of whatever you are using them on.
Always test for best results. Brush a thin coat on embellishment back. Let dry. Blot away excess. Reapply glue as needed.
Before applying the tack coat, the tack coat must be heated to a temperature ranging from 120- 160F. When considering the temperature at which to heat the tack coat before application, the surface that it is being applied to does not need to be taken into consideration.
Generally, a tack coat should be allowed enough time to break and set (emulsion) or cure (cutback) before applying the next layer of HMA.
