To unzip a single file or folder, open the zipped folder, then drag the file or folder from the zipped folder to a new location. To unzip all the contents of the zipped folder, press and hold (or right-click) the folder, select Extract All, and then follow the instructions.
Follow these steps to recover an archive from File History. In the taskbars search box, type restore files. Select Restore your files with File History. Locate the archive you want to restore and use the arrow keys to select a specific version of the file. Select Restore to recover the file to its original location.
Right-click the file you want to zip, and then select Send to Compressed (zipped) folder. Open File Explorer and find the compressed folder. To unzip the entire folder, right-click to select Extract All, and then follow the instructions. You can also select Extract All from the command ribbon.
0:34 2:09 Then select the compressed zipped folder. Now you can view another zipped folder in the same name inMoreThen select the compressed zipped folder. Now you can view another zipped folder in the same name in your desktop.
If youre not sure where you stored the ZIP file after downloading it, check the Downloads folder. Double-click the ZIP file. This will automatically begin the file extraction, which may take a few seconds to a few minutes, depending on the number and size of the files being extracted.
Zip files use lossless compression, meaning when a zip file is opened up, no data has been lost. This is not like turning a CD into the low bit-rate MP3 files many of us listened to in the 2000s. You can email someone a zip file, or upload it to a cloud storage service like Google GOOG -0.3% Drive.
ZIP archives store compressed files including their metadata (filesize, date/time, ). When a contained file is password protected, the compressed data is encrypted, but the metadata is not. As an example, take this ZIP file that I created.
