While telemetry is like a live dashboard, logging is the detailed diary of a systems past activities. Both are crucial for maintaining system reliability and performance.
Data from the logging process is recorded from a single or multiple sensors (input). Examples of these inputs gathered and measured are sound, temperature, ambient light, soil moisture, voltage, etc. An actual data logger is made up of 3 components - a microprocessor, memory, and sensor(s).
The information that a data logger records is gathered via sensors or similar detection instruments that have been calibrated for sensitivity to certain environmental stimuli. These sensors can either be built directly into the device as fixed internal components or attached externally when needed.
Methods for log collection Two of the most common mechanisms for collecting log data are agentless and agent-based log collection. Some of the other common log collection techniques include API-based log collection, WMI-based log collection, and SNMP traps.
The sensors collect data, the memory stores it, and the microprocessors process the data, allowing users to retrieve the data from the memory for analysis and decision-making. These data loggers can be programmed to take readings at regular intervals ing to your measurement requirements.
Data loggers are electronic devices which automatically monitor and record environmental parameters over time, allowing conditions to be measured, documented, analysed and validated.
Data logging is the process of capturing, storing and displaying one or more datasets to analyze activity, identify trends and help predict future events.
Log data is the records of all the events occurring in a system, in an application, or on a network device.
