lets say somebody is asking you to collaborate on a Google document there are basically two things you can do one is called a an edit and one is called a comment and Im going to show you how to do each one first you need to make sure that youre in the right mode the mode of editing is up here on the right upper right hand side so you click on that and make sure that you are in the suggesting mode maybe theyve already made it so that youre by default in the suggesting mode but thats the mode that you want to be in if youre not the owner of the document but youre just a collaborator okay so lets say you want to make an edit you want to remove a word suggest removing a word or suggests adding a word or whatever it is you simply highlight lets say I wanted to suggest removing this a word and the comma in the space okay so I highlight it and I just simply press delete on my keyboard or backspace on my keyboard okay and then what I when I do that it shows up as they suggested delet

Those people are likely already be in your Gmail contacts. Even if you dont have Gmail open and generally use another email client, if the others are in your Gmail contacts, they will show up in a tag. If someone isnt in your contact list, Sheets or Docs has no way to recognize that individual if you try to tag them.
To tag someone, type the @ symbol and start typing their email address. Then select them from your list of contacts. If you tag someone who doesnt already have access to the document, Google will ask you to share the document with them before posting your comment.

Commenter: the user can view and also comment on table rows, and view bots. Writer: the user can view, comment, and only add/edit/delete table rows, but not change the table structure (columns, views, forms, bots, etc.). Editor: the user can edit the workspace or table.
This works in all the Google Formats where you can create and participate in commenting. Once a comment is created you can find a link to that specific comment by: Click on the menu (three dots) in the comment dialogue box (to the right of the page) Select the Link to this comment option.
