rtrim is a PHP function that can also be used to strip off the last character. For the trailing comma situation, you can use rtrim($string, ,) . If you are in a real mess and end up with commas at the beginning AND end of your strings, you can use the regular trim instead of rtrim .
RE: Adding thousand-separators in formual fields cstr ({myrec. numvalue}, #,###,###) in a formula field will show a value like 4000 as 4,000, and 1234567 as 1,234,567. This can then be placed in a text string and print correctly.
In the crystal report designer view: Right mouse click on that field, and select Format object . Select Custom Style in the Style list, and click Customize . Untick Thousands Separator , and any other unwanted formatting.
