You can make changes directly on the contract by using a redline or strikethrough method. This is a more informal way to make changes to contracts, but it is normally effective. You simply cross out the language that no longer applies and re-write the language that should be applicable.
Section 7 of the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) states in part, Employees shall have the right. . . to engage in other concerted activities for the purpose of collective bargaining or other mutual aid or protection. Strikes are included among the concerted activities protected for employees by this section.
Never sign a blank contract You would not sign a blank check, so do not sign a blank contract. Cross out any clause in a contract that does not apply or agree to you. If you sign with these clauses in the contract, you are responsible for them.
An insurance clause included in insurance policies to cover against losses as a result of strikes. See Strikes, Riots and Commotion Clause (SRCC).
Most strikes and threats of strikes are intended to inflict a cost on the employer for failing to agree to specific wages, benefits, or other conditions demanded by the union. Strikes by Japanese unions are not intended to halt production for long periods of time; instead, they are seen as demonstrations of solidarity.
A strike that violates a no-strike provision of a contract is not protected by the Act, and the striking employees can be discharged or otherwise disciplined, unless the strike is called to protest certain kinds of unfair labor practices committed by the employer.
Once youre on strike, your pay will stop. Unions typically set up a strike fund to help members cope with the loss of income during a strike. Union member dues support the strike fund, and each union has rules about how much members can draw from it.
A strike-through clause is a reinsurance contract provision requiring a reinsurer to pay its share of a loss directly to the insured in the event that the ceding insurer becomes insolvent.
