And the Cheerios strike is over. The union voted to approve the tentative deal to get workers back to the battery plant in Holland. UAW Local 12 president Bruce Baumhower tells WTOL 11 its a new three-year contract with a 3% raise each year. The overtime issue for one part of the plant, which works 12 hours, is resolved and workers received a $3500 signing bonus. Baumhower says theres a meeting with the company tomorrow morning to discuss the return to work. Both sides hopeful for Sunday. This ends a six week strike for Clarius which makes batteries for GM and Ford. And Clarius released a statement tonight saying in part, we are pleased that our represented employees ratified the agreement today.
